According to the Congressional Research Service:
· “Over the last decade, GE varieties in the United States have increased from 3.6 million acres to 165 million acres in 2010.”
· “GE varieties now dominate soybean, cotton, and corn production in the United States, and they continue to expand rapidly in other countries.”
· “An estimated 60%-70% of all processed U.S. foods likely contain some GE material.”
Other Concerns over GMOs include:

allergic reactions to GMOs in food,

the presence of antibiotics in genetically modified genes,

the ability of GMOs to escape into the environment,

weeds resistant to herbicides,

unknown ingredients in our food.
A legal petition (Docket # FDA 2011-P-0723) has been filed with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) calling on the FDA to label genetically engineered (GE) foods.
